“G I R L C O D E” is a series of original artworks that celebrates women's friendship and the power of girls supporting girls. In a world where women have to fight to have their voice heard, they can always find comfort and safety in each other. The complicity, softness, and kindness of women's friendship is a secret and intimate feeling that gently heals their hearts and guides them through every obstacle.
The original illustrations for ”G I R L C O D E” were created for the artist’s first solo exhibition! The pieces were displayed at Gacha Gallery in Hatboro (PA) and include 8 traditional artworks on Japanese shikishi boards. Each piece of art represents a memory, an action, or a feeling about the artist’s experience with sisterhood and women friendships. Every character represents not only real life people but also characters that helped her define what real friendship meant to her, inspired by the dreamy stories she grew up with.
”I dedicate this series of illustrations to all those women longing for a friend, those who have already found one, and those who have yet to feel worthy of one. You are never alone.”
